(March 19, 2008)
Unacceptable Testing Methods
Reciprocal Agreements
“…reciprocal agreements are unacceptable because the institution
agreeing to provide back-up has insufficient excess capacity
to enable the affected institution to process its transactions
in a timely manner.” (FFIEC IT Examination Handbook, Page
G-11)
“…processing time may be provided on a “best effort” or as
“time available” basis; therefore, reciprocal agreements are
not usually acceptable as a primary recovery option.” (FFIEC
IT Examination Handbook, Page B-7)
Table Top Exercise/Structured Walk-Through Test
“…is considered a preliminary step in the overall testing
process and may be used as an effective training tool; however,
it is not a preferred method.”
(FFIEC IT Examination Handbook, Page 23)
Walk-Through Drill / Simulation Test
“…this test also presents a preliminary step in the overall
testing process that may be used for training employees, but
is not a preferred testing methodology.”
(FFIEC IT Examination Handbook, Page 24)
